At around 0:30 on 1st September, Nantong athlete Shi Yuqi defeated the previous champion Kunlavut 2:1 in the men’s singles final of the 2025 BWF World Championships, and stepped onto the singles world championship podium for the first time. The number of world championships in his personal sports career has increased to 7.
It was the 5th time that Shi Yuqi participated in the BWF World Championships. In the past, his best result was the men’s singles runner-up in 2018.
The Olympic Games and the BWF World Championships are the two top events in international badminton. In the past, Shi Yuqi won the Thomas Cup and Sudirman Cup team world championships six times. Now he has successfully won the singles championship in the BWF World Championships, marking a new breakthrough in his sports career.
