Overseas Chinese youths experienced Jianghai culture

On 6th August, 2025 ‘Affection China · Charming Jiangsu’ Summer Camp — Nantong Session opened. 36 overseas Chinese youths and teachers from Germany, Canada and the Netherlands gathered in Nantong, to experience the Jianghai culture.

During the 10-day summer camp, the campers learnt about Shen embroidery and tie-dye, learnt Chinese Kung Fu, visited museums, made kites, wore Hanfu, and carried out immersive experiences.

‘It’s our first time to come to Nantong, but we return to China often.’ Ye Hanchen, a member from the Netherlands hoped to learn more about Nantong culture and traditional skills. Chang Chang, a member from Germany, expected to ‘make new friends’. Shao Ruihong, the German team leader, praised Nantong’s itinerary. ‘Many activities were arranged for students to participate in hands-on production and experience activities, and badminton and basketball competitions were also held with local teenagers to enhance friendship.’
