　　甲骨文“雪”是会意兼形声字。字形中的“雨”和小点是意符，意为天上的雨水凝结成雪片落下来，“彗”是声符。本义为下雪、雪花，由于雪是白色的，引申为白色或白色的东西，又表示除尘、洗刷等。
