!!Theproverballudestotheancientagriculturalpracticeofthreshing(looseningthegrain)andwinnowing(tossingitinthewind).Thevaluablegrainswouldfallbackdown,whilethelighter,worthlesshusks(thechaff)wouldbeblownaway.

這句諺語源自古代農業實踐：打穀（穀粒脫落）和揚穀（借風力拋灑）。有價值的穀粒會落回地面，而較輕且無價值的殼（糠秕）則會被吹走。

InMatthew3:12,JohntheBaptistsaysoftheone(Jesus)comingafterhim:"HiswinnowingforkisinHishand,andHewillthoroughlyclearHisthreshingfloor;andHewillgatherHiswheat(therighteous)intothebarn,butHewillburnupthechaff(thewicked)withunquenchablefire."

在《馬太福音》3:12中，施洗者約翰談到那一位（耶穌）之後來臨時說：“他手裡拿着揚穀的叉，要清理他的打穀場，把麥子（義人）收在倉裡，用不滅的火燒盡那些糠秕（惡人）。”
